Mosquitoes and ticks are not only annoying when they disrupt outdoor activities, they can also transmit diseases that seriously harm human health. The news is full of reports of Lyme disease, West Nile virus, Zika, and others. According to the CDC in 2017, there were over 42,000 confirmed and probable cases of Lyme disease that were reported in the US, which is almost 9% more than in 2016.3 Furthermore, the CDC believes the cases reported are only representing 10% of the actual number of people impacted by Lyme disease.3Â Applying repellents to prevent mosquito and tick bites is a key part of keeping safe from vector-borne diseases.
